LOW-CARBON LIQUID FUELS TO POWER HILUX VEHICLES AT AFL GRAND FINAL PARADE

**AFL Grand Final parade HiLux vehicles to run on 100 per cent Renewable Diesel HVO100**
**All 2015-onwards HiLux diesels compatible with HVO100**
**Renewable Diesel to provide viable alternative to diesel to enable carbon reduction**

Toyota will use the AFL Grand Final parade to showcase the potential of low-carbon liquid fuels (LCLFs), with Renewable Diesel used to power 40 HiLux pick-ups carrying the two Grand Final teams at the parade on September 25.

The annual spectacle which draws thousands of attendees every year will use the 40 HiLux pick-ups to ferry players through the streets of Melbourne, with all 40 vehicles to be powered by 100 per cent Renewable Diesel HVO100.

The LCLF-powered HiLux fleet will also be used on Grand Final day during the lap of honour for recently retired players.

HVO100 is a paraffinic oil made from 100 per cent hydrotreated vegetable oil derived from renewable feedstocks including waste oils and vegetable oil. Toyota Australia will undertake trials and tests of this fuel in in its vehicles.

Produced through a range of lower-carbon pathways including waste-derived and renewable feedstocks, LCLF has the potential to reduce the lifecycle emissions for existing and future diesel-powered vehicles, and its development is one initiative that forms part of Toyota’s multi-pathway strategy towards decarbonisation.

All HiLux vehicles produced from 2015 and powered by either the 2.8-litre 1GD or 2.4-litre 2GD diesel engines are compatible with HVO100, with approximately half a million such vehicles currently on Australian roads.

The existing and Future HiLux car parc presents the potential for lifecycle carbon reduction of diesel vehicles if HVO100 is widely adopted.

Toyota Australia Vice President Sales, Marketing and Franchise Operations John Pappas said the AFL Grand Final Parade marked an exciting opportunity to showcase Toyota’s multi-pathway approach.

It’s one of the most anticipated traditions in Melbourne and a unique opportunity to bring fans closer to the excitement and action of the final,” Mr Pappas said.

Toyota has plans to make other diesel vehicles compatible with HVO100. Toyota continues to work with industry to support opportunities for Renewable Diesel in Australia.
