TOYOTA AUSTRALIA CONTINUES TO COMBAT INDUSTRY-WIDE CHALLENGE OF VEHICLE THEFT

**Factory-approved, Toyota Genuine Accessory Secondary Immobiliser launched for LandCruiser 300 and LandCruiser Prado 250**

As vehicle theft continues to be a societal challenge in Australia, Toyota is committed to continuously enhancing security across its range. Toyota is launching a Toyota Genuine Accessory Secondary Immobiliser for current-generation LandCruiser 300 and LandCruiser Prado 250 models.

Toyota continues to evolve its security measures in response to increasingly sophisticated theft methods targeting the automotive industry. The secondary immobiliser system is designed to enhance security but does not guarantee complete theft prevention. Owner awareness and layered security remain important. No security system is impervious to theft.

Following extensive testing and development, the factory-approved Secondary Immobiliser for LandCruiser 300 and LandCruiser Prado 250 enhances the security offered by the vehicles’ original factory-fitted immobiliser.

The Secondary Immobiliser provides an additional layer of vehicle start authentication to the vehicle’s primary immobiliser system and is designed so that the vehicle cannot be started without the Immobiliser Fob in range.

As part of the secondary immobiliser system, the vehicle is equipped with an independently powered siren featuring battery backup. The siren is designed to activate in response to unauthorised actions, providing an audible deterrent even if the vehicle’s main electrical power is disconnected.

The Secondary Immobiliser is now available through Toyota’s extensive dealer network at a fitted cost of $1,735 for current generation LandCruiser 300 and LandCruiser Prado 250 vehicles. Factory-approved secondary immobilisers for the wider range of Toyota models are currently under study.

Ongoing Security Enhancements

Through Toyota’s commitment to continuously improving vehicle security, the new HiLux, LandCruiser 300 and LandCruiser Prado 250 received security enhancements in 2025. These security enhancements continue to be rolled out to new models such as the All-New RAV4.

As at time of publication, Toyota Australia are not aware of any occurrences of vehicle theft using sophisticated devices in Australia on this range of vehicles.

Regulation of Devices

Through ongoing collaboration with various law enforcement agencies, industry and government, Toyota Australia continues to promote the banning of devices used to facilitate vehicle theft. In addition, Toyota supports the regulation of legitimate devices used by locksmiths, mechanics and other automotive professionals.
